LOSE MYSELF TONIGHT

This one's dedicated to one of the pictures of my friend Alok Jaiswal which prompted me to come up with a caption and the nothingness of the night and this worldly contemplations together reslulted in this poem!



I do not wish to sleep tonight,
for the stars outside shine so bright!

Seeing the horizon light up the sky,
with hazy dragons and little fireflies

The heart plunges into deep thought
Of this heart and those little battles it fought

Times have gone when this heart felt sane
The days of dancing in those lashing rains

That warm smile at the descending of laughter
Those little burst of joys my words were after

Thinking about oblivion, bounded within rage
Mind lost in wanderings, bloodshot eyes and this heart encaged

In submission I've lost all my fears, my mind is running for the sky
I stand in bliss rued by my ignorance, memories flash me by

My life is a haven now, I see the lit horizon in sight
Nothing matters anymore, wrong or right

 Let me forget myself and embrace my inner light
Nothing can stop me, let me lose myself into this dark night!

Travelling has always been of great interest to me. It opens me up to the infinite hidden things that we miss and those many more people who change the way you percieve things! AND THAT MADE ALL THE DIFFERENCE

My cousin Sakshi(right) and I This is a true incident. Long ago, when I was a kid. I particularly can't recall my childhood as such but this incident runs fresh in my memory! It was the year of 1997 or 98 I suppose. Pretty far back! I had to attend a parent teacher meeting at school (JASPAL KAUR PUBLIC SCHOOL it was in Shalimar Bagh, New Delhi). It really bothered me, it was a menacing day where teachers would just tell my parent particularly these few things "he's very shy", "he doesn't speak", "he's aloof", "he doesn't participate in activities" and I always ended up getting a rather blood staining F in extra-curricular activities in my report card! I was a serious kid, I never talked much, I associated with very few people. I was this little child with lots of thoughts in the head! DAYS SINCE MIGRATION

MY SIDE OF THE STORY!! Sitiing in my room, one day I was wondering what it was like living in Kashmir, what was the lifestyle of people there, how they lived in the cold valleys, what they ate, how they celebrated, how they socialised? This was when I was very small, so I asked my mother about it, she gave me detailed stories of their illustrative and glorious past. The way they enjoyed the lush green valleys, the wide playgrounds, the snow clad mountains was mesmerising. I thoroughly enjoyed the stories.I longed for living in such a place, away from the hustle of the city life. Life was peaceful there, everyone looked out for each other, festivities were celebrated with great splendour. All these were enough to generate curiosity and make me explore the topic even more.
